Just a thought for those who are perplexed about receiving a PanArt rejection letter regarding a purchase of a Free Integral Hang. It seems Felix & Sabina are now persuaded that the FIH is a personal, introspective, private sound tool. My guess is that anyone who has revealed that they are performing/recording artists, buskers, etc. will not be selected to purchase the FIH, for it will be assumed that public performance, not private communion, is one's intent. Quite right, one can indeed be sincerely multi intentional. But Felix & Sabina must invoke some yard stick to eliminate the thousands of requests that they have received. They are doing their best to ensure that the FIH goes where it will be used by individuals who will, like them, become pioneers on the sound frontier, listening intently to the sound and following where it leads. So, transformation of consciousness, via harmonics may be the mission of the Free Integral Hang. Perhaps our hangmakers have also discerned that many who have requested the FIH are already of a transformed consciousness and therefore do not need the FIH.

Hi Samjjana, thanks for your words, I'm agree with you in this fact:

"They are not communications experts in a public relations sense - all that requires specialized skill and takes up so much time and energy and distract from making the hang." <--- This is evident just reading their refusal letter.

But when you say "Mass I know you are suffering" or like some guy say here " you Mass are obsessing" makes me smile (really not offend me) because at the end of this discussion, I'm just trying to understand what's really going on, and why the process go in this way. Seems like anybody in this forum have their truth regarding the hang process and knows how is the Felix or Sabina vision, specially who have a first generation or second generation of hang hang in their hands + maybe waiting for another hang?. I think you are the only one here that tried to show you to us your experience making a good balance between reality, logical things, feelings, and of course all things that could be better in the process... I really appreciate that you explain very well your experience here, because this give me some lights on some of the questions I have, I work inside a internet publicity world, and a fluid communication is really important for us (you'll understand me ;-),. In the last two weeks talking with people that got an IH here in Barcelona in 2008 I noticed that each of those IH owners love and hate something regarding the PANART selection process or communication process... one of this guys says: "they have the power to minimize the frustration of the future hang owners... but they want to make you understand how great is the hang just when you have one in your hands". Another guy experience was to put in his letter this "Felix if you don't build me one hang ... I promise that I will go to the hanghaus and life outside the door until you sell me one"...

Wat you look like "I'm suffering" really for me is "I would appreciate a better communication process from PANART"... that's all, if anybody read carefully my messages you will find lot of the reactions, feelings and assumptions that people made when there's not a CLEAR communication between the SOURCE and the FUTURE OWNER. You can call me obsessed, fanatic, terrorist, fan, hang addicted, but I'm happy to have this discussion here and see what the people think regarding the hang hang.

Thank you Samjjana!

;-)

Hallo,

I'm from France and interesting in Hang since 5 years. I just want to say that in France it's also difficult to see or listen an hang player as to get one. I never see the instrument in live and never eard the sound expect in internet videos. I also wants more informations because with all forum dedicaded to hang we can read a version and the opposite, we never know who is in the right way.
I need to go to switzerland for my job the second half of January and i decide to go to Bern for 3 days trying get informations from the source.
I would like to order a hang as many people and my illusions are perhaps enormous, i need to do it.

Hallo,

@Massimiliano. You ask a lot of questions direct to me. I will post my thoughts step by step. Not so easy for me. I have a lot of in my mind, but i must translate this in englisch.

But, first I want to say Thank You @Samjjana. :)
You wrote a lot of what give food for thought. I hope people read carefully what you wrote.

samjjana wrote:

Good point. Panart wrote in the foretime a few "open letters" with clear informations about their work and the Hang. The most time, they work concentrated on the Hang. The focus is to make the best Hang they can make. And this every day.
In special time periods are a lot of visitors in the Hanghaus. This is the best way to communicate. Face to face.

samjjana wrote:
The other quote that comes to mind is 'you can't please all of the people, all of the time'.

It is only a arithmetic problem, that the most people will be displeased. This is not a question of worthy or unworthy.

samjjana wrote:
Also, I hope that this current situation is not causing too much angst for Felix and Sabina as it would be sad if it was having an impact on the making of the hang. I vote for us all leaving them in peace to get on with their magic creations and remember the Zen saying 'No snowflake falls in the wrong place' - if you are meant to have a hang, you will have one.

I think Felix and Sabina have a very keen mind. There is a lot of positve energy in the Hanghaus. I hope this is stronger as the negative actions and reactions.

samjjana wrote:
And finally, my experience and understanding of what the hang does is that it awakens us to the deepest part of ourselves - our essence, our true self. It returns us to profound stillness inside and reminds us who we really are underneath all the layers of thinking and busyness and living and conditioning and suffering. It's such a beautiful place, and such a beautiful experience that once we have found it again we crave it when we are not in that space. The hang is not the only way to go back there - it is a beautiful way, and a very easy way, but not the only way............

Great. :) This is one of the most beautiful things the Hang does for me , personally. It is a key to find myself behind all the walls around my soul.
Probably it is not the only way. Probably it is not the way for all people.
To understand this, is a challenge. I am only on the beginning, to find the ways to myself.
I think with the "Free Integral Hang" Panart will open a new chapter. The Hang is much more, than only a music instrument.

PANArt wrote:
The free-tuned Integral Hang is intended for individuals who yearn for balance and inner peace in a world that can be chaotic and unsettling. Our concepts, developments and implementations are far from the musical norms of modern times which require study, practice and performance. Playing with this Hang can lead to a form of freedom, an intimate conversation that can only unfold without pressure and coercion. If individuals are aware of this concept they will be strengthened by this Hang. Thoughtless use can weaken a person.

Funky,

In the statement above, what is your definition of "only a music instrument"?

Hi,

you can make music with the Hang. So, you have an instrument to make music. But it is not "only" an instrument to make music. For me the Hang is much more. It is a tool for relaxing, calming... It is a key to break the barriers to my inner self.
I played a lot of music instruments in my life. Guitar, flute, a little bit piano, drumset and all kind of percussion.
Not only one of this music instruments do the same for me, as the Hang.
For me this are "only" music instruments. This means not, that it isn´t great to play music.
I think a lot of people have very special experiences with the Hang. You can read a lot of storys on the internet.
I personally go from time to time on the streets or play Hang in a hospital and for my friends and so on...
A lot of people told me, that there is much more in the sound. Something special. Not easy to describe, but people feel it.
It is likely, that not all people feel the same if they listen to the Hang. But I meet a lot of people who are deep touched and captured from the sound.
A lot of people told me, that they never had this feeling before, with other music, or instruments. I beliefe that.
The Hang has a big impact on my life and the life from a lot of people. This is more than "only" a music instrument.
I hope you understand, what I want to say. You cant have this experience with Youtube Videos for example. There you listen to the music. Nice.
But to listen a live Hang is a totally different thing.

Greetings
Frank

Thanks for the quick reply,

I see what you mean. Some of what you said sounds like what many people say and experience with Tibetan singing bowls or crystal singing bowls, for example.

Recordings of these singing bowls can only give a very superficial idea of what they can do for you as well, until you try them in a store or otherwise.

By the way, I was just enjoying this YouTube Video

Enjoy (with earphones), if you have not already seen it.

Hi,

I am not shure how I should understand the last 3 postings from you @ Michael C, @Pulpfiction and @Hunky Dory.
Why you quote me and post such a short comment?
What is wrong with my posting? It is only my opinion and I told only my experience with the Hang.
I am confused, what I should think about your comments.
Is this meant as Irony? Friendly? Approvingly? Sarcastically? Insulting? .....? ..........?........?

I have realy no clue.

Frank

Hey Frank :),

I can only speak for myself. My comment was not meant sarcastic or anything, I just share a similar opinion to yours from your post I quoted.
And also, I felt like wishing you (Ixkeys and Funky, but also the rest of the people at hangforum.com) a happy newyear!
The hang is many things to many people. Even though I try to respect everybody elses views on it, some are not mine.
The fact that I also play it 'like an instrument' does not limit it to being 'just an instrument like any other' to me.
I suppose a lot of hang players feel the same way, and understand what I mean through their bond with their own hang - better then I can here try to explain with words :)

Friendly, is my answer. :)

In any case, your question reminds me of this classic story:

Near Tokyo lived a great Samurai warrior, now old, who decided to teach Zen Buddhism to young people. In spite of his age, the legend was that he could defeat any adversary.
One afternoon, a warrior – known for his complete lack of scruples – arrived there. He was famous for using techniques of provocation: he waited until his adversary made the first move and, being gifted with an enviable intelligence in order to repair any mistakes made, he counterattacked with fulminating speed.

The young and impatient warrior had never lost a fight. Hearing of the Samurai’s reputation, he had come to defeat him, and increase his fame.
All the students were against the idea, but the old man accepted the challenge.
All gathered on the town square, and the young man started insulting the old master. He threw a few rocks in his direction, spat in his face, shouted every insult under the sun – he even insulted his ancestors. For hours, he did everything to provoke him, but the old man remained impassive. At the end of the afternoon, by now feeling exhausted and humiliated, the impetuous warrior left.

Disappointed by the fact that the master had received so many insults and provocations, the students asked:
– How could you bear such indignity? Why didn’t you use your sword, even knowing you might lose the fight, instead of displaying your cowardice in front of us all?
– If someone comes to you with a gift, and you do not accept it, who does the gift belong to? – asked the Samurai.
– He who tried to deliver it – replied one of his disciples.
– The same goes for envy, anger and insults – said the master. – When they are not accepted, they continue to belong to the one who carried them.

Happy New Year, Amen, Namaste, the right to your opinion, and many years of happy Hang playing! :D

Hi,

thank you @Hunky Dory and Michael C.
I was only a little bit unsure, how the comments was meant.
This is the problem, with forums like that. A lot of get lost in the communication.
I wish you both also a Happy New Year.
And I think about the story from Hunky Dory.

Greetings
Frank
