Have any Americans here been successful in ordering Biofa Hard Oil? If not, have any Americans found a substitute that is available in the states?

I'm still confused about the hard oil. Biofa Hard Oil seems to be a WOOD finishing product (which would be absorbed into the wood--the Biofa website recommends it for "absorbent interior surfaces"). Given its use on floors, as well as references to its "non-yellowing" characteristics, it most likely contains varnish or urethane, which give a hard protective coating (which would be difficult to remove).

Doesn't make sense to use the same product on metal. Most oils used on metal would leave some kind of residue, and would be removed by daily playing.

I still think wax would give a protective coating (just like on a car) while not leaving a residue (and could be fairly easily removed).

My Hang isn't really exposed to the elements, so I don't worry too much about protection.

Just cleaned my hang with alcohol and applied a little Biofa afterwards like Sabina told me.. Not too much muck came off, but worth it nonetheless. Worked like a charm, I left it to dry for a weekend, no residue. I noticed when I was cleaning with alcohol (thoroughly) the hang appeared more blueish then usually. After applying and drying the Biofa, my IH was returned to its blackish dark color.

Hi,

if it needs a weekend to dry, you use much to much Biofa. Ixkeys told me, that Sabina use the hard oil on his Hang after tuning and only a few minutes later he could play it.

Greetings
Frank

Not a few minutes but about half an hour or a whole hour (I don't remember exactly).
